"Great TIPS to Improve your Game!"

2009

  TIP #2. (December, 2009)

2. "MAKE SURE YOUR HEAD STAYS UP!" -- Huh? Our 'Golf Guy' is not saying look up or lift your head up. He's saying that in order to get your maximum distance, the length of your lever (arm and club) must be swinging at its longest and to do that your posture/spine angle must stay up at its original height or even slightly higher.

Many people "duck" into the ball and tighten their arms dramatically (which shortens them) in an attempt to hit the ball hard.

If you make sure your posture stays up and your arc stays wide, allowing your clubhead to "swing" and accelerate, you'll hit it farther. Sadly most golfers TRY so hard to hit the ball hard that they rarely, if ever, get the sensation of actually allowing the clubhead to swing. So they're stuck with one type of "hacking" or another, and therefore less distance.

  TIP #1. (November, 2009)

1. "KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN!" -- Use your eyes. Look down at the ball, which is what optometrists call your gaze center. Your gaze center is about the size of a Frisbee. Everything outside your gaze center is in your peripheral vision.

Now lift your head or drop it slightly. As your head moves, so do your eyes, and so does the ball -- into your peripheral vision. Now you can't see the ball so well. Keep your head steady enough to keep the ball inside the Frisbee, and you can't go too far wrong.

WHY GOLF IS THE HARDEST GAME IN THE WORLD!

1. The ball doesn't move on its own.
2. You have on the average about 3 minutes between each shot.

You don't react to the ball as you do in most sports.

A baseball is thrown, hit, and spit on.
A football is passed, tossed, kicked, and run up and down the field.
A basketball is shot, rebounded, and dribbled all over the place.
A golf ball just sits there and defies you not to lose it.

In most sports, you have but an instant to react to the ball. Your natural male instincts and you react to the ball. In golf, you get to think about what you're doing for much too long. Thinking strangles the soul and suffocates the mind.

Golf would be much easier if the ball moved a little and you were on skates.
