"HOLE-IN-ONE"

New Tuesday Golfer's Record

17 Under Par - "Can You Believe it?
(Feb. 3, 2015) - Tiger and Michelson didn't make the cut, but our Tuesday Golfers had their best day ever, with 6 under at the turn, and a Hole-in-One and two Eagles  on the back nine for 11 under on the back for a total of -17. (Previous record was -15).

Sue had the hot putter of the day, and Johnnyboy Crippin won the Hole-In-One pot of $575.00. (Second time he won the pot, but didn't have to split it this time!) "What a day!"

Winning Team: Ron Meintz, Sue Uyak, Bob Capo, John Cirppin

WHAT ARE THE ODDS?

According to a study commissioned  by Golf Digest in 2000, the odds of making
a hole-in-one are:

1. For a Tour Pro:      3,000 to 1
2. Low-handicapper:  5,000 to 1
3. Average player:    12,000 to 1

(The longer the hole, the longer the odds.)

A letter to the manufacturer of the Hole-In-One ball, or a visit to their Website may be worth your
time. Using a Bridgestone E6 ball, they sent me a nice certificate and a dozen Bridgestone balls.

"HOLE-IN-ONE" - Hall of Fame

Hall of Fame - Page 1.

About 175 miles from Tampa, the World Golf Hall of Fame is located just off I-95 (exit 323) and is a worthwhile visit. (Plan about 3 hours for the tour).

The Hall of Fame and Museum honors over 130 members since 1974 through displays of historic artifacts, personal memorabilia and hands-on exhibits.

Tonight (5/9/11) is the 2011 Induction Ceremony with presenter Jim Nantz (Play-by-play anchor of CBS's golf coverage).

Class of 2011: Masashi "Jumbo" Ozaki, Ernie Els, Doug Ford, the late Frank Chirkinian, the late Jock Hutchison and former President George H.W. Bush.

In 2012, one of our favorite golfers will be inducted: Phil Mickelson. A limited number of tickets are always available for this event, so plan to attend. The ceremony is also broadcast on the Golf Channel.  Save this Website:  www.worldgolfhalloffame.org

BOB HOPE

SPECIAL DISPLAYS AND EXHIBITS

BOB HOPE: "Shanks for the Memory" -- great display through Mid-2011 of more than 400 items, 300 vintage images and video. This display in the largest collection of Hope's memorabilia ever available on public display.

Bob Hope was a friend to 11 U.S. Presidents.

"After all, golf is my real profession. Entertainment is just the sideline. I tell jokes to pay my greens fees."

"I never dreamed when I took up golf that someday I'd be playing with kings and presidents, actors and singers, television stars and generals, corporate tycoons, athletes and club owners. Golf is a bond that has drawn us all together and created a special fraternity among the celebrities of show business, sports and politics."

"Relaxing on the lawn at my home on Toluca Lake in North Hollywood. That pools is about the only water hazard I've missed in over 50 years of golf. But just to make sure, my practice balls are floatable."

The exhibition looks at his devotion to the U.S. troops and the various ways he championed the game of golf.

FUN STUFF

Included with your admission ticket is an opportunity to try Shell's Wonderful World of Golf and sink the winning putt on a super-fast tournament-style putting green. Hall of Fame volunteers are there to give you pointers and help you 'read' the greens. Fun time!

Also, with the price of admission is a chance to try the new Full-Swing-Golf, $40,000 Golf Simulator. Over 200 courses can be projected on the screen along with a computer screen on the right side to help visualize the results.
